Kash’s Mother’s Dinner Rolls

Here’s the recipe for Kash Castleberry’s Mother’s delicious dinner rolls.  It was a little unclear at first, so I’ve attempted to break it down (see below).  I hope I got it right.  First, she creates two separate mixtures (#1 and #2).  Next, she blends them together.  Then, she creates a third mixture (#3) and eventually blends all three together.  If you try this, please let me know how the rolls turn out.  Dad
Mixture #1
    • 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
    • 1/2 Cup Shortening
    • 1 Teaspoon Salt
Direction: Add the ingredients to 1 Cup of boiling water and stir.  Let cool to lukewarm.
Mixture #2
    • 2 Packets Yeast
    • 1 Tablespoon Granulated Sugar
Direction: Dissolve ingredients in 1/2 Cup warm water.
Mixture #3
    • 3 eggs
    • 4 1/2 Cups of Flour
Direction: Beat the eggs together and add the 4 1/2 Cups of Flour.
Summary Directions:
    1. Add the first mixture to the yeast mixture.  Blend.
    2. Add the third mixture.
    3. Beat together thoroughly.
    4. Let rise for 1 hour, covered.
    5. Stir down. Put in refrigerator overnight.
    6. Roll and cut to shape.
    7. Let rise 2 1/2 hours at room temperature, covered.
    8. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
